Why take lessons?
Private lessons provide individualized, one-on-one instruction with a professional flute performer and educator. With this attention, the student improves faster and with more skill and finesse. Studying with a master of the instrument insures that good habits will be instilled and that the student’s personal learning needs are met. Dr. Allison takes pride in inspiring students to achieve their own goals using efficient and effecting teaching tools that the students can use outside of lessons.
What is covered in lessons?
Lessons help you reach YOUR goals, perhaps more efficiently. Each lessons is designed with you in mind, with a foundation in the pedagogy of flute instruction but also creative, out-of-the-box approaches to get the mind truly engaged in learning.
If you are a student: In addition to gaining skill and comfort with your school’s required repertoire, All-District preparation, and solo/ensemble selections, student will work on flute-specific skills and techniques addressing tone, intonation, vibrato, expanding range, and double tonguing.
If you are an adult: Are you interested in playing for fun, at church, for side-income, or to win a gig? Are you returning to music after some time away, brand new to the instrument, or a seasoned professional who wants more feedback to refine your playing. All experience levels are welcome in the flute studio.
What does it cost?
The 2022 rate for private lessons is $35 per half hour and $65 per hour for students committed to the full-term. Regular lessons are required for these rates, and adhere to a make-up policy (in person or through Skype, depending on availability and advance planning).
