It's impossible to diminish the value of one-on-one instruction with a master of the craft, especially in music. As a flute instructor, I can count a thousand times when I have wished a music lesson could be more about teaching music (and less about teaching notes). It is not about at what level the student can play; it is about how motivated they are to practice between lessons and how they use their time practicing.
I also have an understanding that some students simply do not have the resources available for quality music instruction. Perhaps there is a financial issue at home. Perhaps there are no quality flute players in their town. Perhaps they lack the transportation to get to a teacher.
My new practice books (being launched weekly now) and practice videos currently being launched almost daily (I'll slow down in a bit) are designed to help focus attention on developing the skills required to learn the fundamentals of a piece and then progress to master it. The books are being offered from $2-$5 and the videos for free. My goal truly is to help all students grow.
